Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

Today is the Jayanti i.e Birth Anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. So why is he still relevant to us ?

Maharaj abolished Slave trading which was a profitable business. The Dutch offered them slave trading opportunity but he strictly ignored this profitable business as it was immoral.But our current politicians practice immoral behaviour openly, unfortunately.

At that time, This was the only empire or state whoes foundation was "Swarajya" and "Surajya" . Other kingdom were called as Adilshahi, Nizaamshaahi, Kutubshahi , Mughlai (rule of mughals). His kingdom was of people not for selfish ambition.

Sati (burning of Widow after husbands death) was abolished by Jijau Mata. After Maharaj Shahaji death she was expected to go for Sati but she didn't.

Tukaram Maharaj was the teacher/ Mentor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Tukaram Maharaj was against Varna System and dominance of Brahmanical ideology. Thus, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had two enemies one was internal (Varna Caste System and dominance of Brahminical ideology) external (Mughals and those Hindus, Europeans who wanted to destroy Swarajya)

Wherever Campaigns Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj took he made sure that religious places were not destroyed at all. Example in Surat caimpaing a christian church was protected by soldiers on orders of Maharaj during raid.In that same surat raid his(Maharaj Shivaji) soldiers made sure to protect a wealthy dead Gujrati merchant's family on the basis of that merchants good deeds.

This great king made sure to create and founded India's first NAVY. At that time crossing sea was violation of caste system still he built Indian Navy by ignoring this orthodox idea.

शिवाजी means शिका (Educate) वागा (Behave)आणि जिंका (Victory ). At the temple of raireshwar, he gave the offering of not milk to the Shivpindi but he cut (not chopped ) his thumb and offered his 1 drop of blood to shivpindi(Shivling)and this meant if you all work for me only a drop of blood will be sacrificed for swarajya but your thumb will not be chopped down. 

Females and children were protected and given lot of respect and empowerment. Soldiers were given salary at that time but all soldiers and officers were ready to die for this great king as they knew that their children, parents, family will be taken care and this kingdom was established on basis of human rights and welfare of people. The intent was not Hindu rashtra but people's kingdom 

Last I will say, the Royal Seal of Shivaji Maharaj said the ‘ever-increasing like the crescent-moon, the kingdom of Shivaji, son of Shahaji, will always seek the welfare of the people’.
